RT503 - sounding sluggish
« on: December 16, 2012, 04:55:42 AM »
I have recently purchased a RT503 and use it through my RA412 XL cab.
For some reason i cannot get a good sound to come from my head, it sounds sluggish and cheap.
Also, the reverb knob doent seem to do anything.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I have a RT100 , I guess the same amp just mine is 100w. You can have some used or bad tubes that needs to be replaced. I think that mine is a bit muddy and not distinct or tight. But at high volyme it tends to get a little bit tighter. Otherwise I love this amp and I use my pod xt through the clean channel. I did put my RT 100 trough a carvin vai 4x12 (celestion v30 speakers) and it sounded great!  What speakers do you have? Could have something to do with your choise of speakers.

My cab has Celestion G12H-100 speakers in it.

would the fact the reverb knob dosent do anything be down to the face the tubes are bad?
What tubes should i get for it?

Thanks

Well i read somewhere in web, that some rt503 has some wire disconnected (unsoldered) and thats why the reverb doesnt work, and for the tubes, maybe you can check some post here, of tube testing in rt503h http://forums.randallamplifiers.com/index.php/topic,69.0.html
