What model reverb tank came with the RG 80-112SC?
« on: September 28, 2013, 07:55:34 PM »
I was recently given an RG 80-112SC that needed some TLC.  It is working well but didn't have a reverb tank, and I don't know how to choose a replacement.  I need to either figure out which Accutronics model it came with originally, or find out what impedence specs the new one should have.  Help would be appreciated.   8)

I did about an hour of research and I came up with 2 possible answers.

From what I gather it is a type 8, but there is a fair chance I'm wrong.

For the impedance specs, I found this useful chart.

Hope this helps a little.

Jeff,

Thanks for taking the time to do that, I appreciate it a lot.  You found more than I was able to.

I know I'm responding to an old post but, hopefully this will help someone trying to restore their old RG-80.

I have an early 1980's RG-80 SC 112 with fuzzy carpeting and a 100 watt Celestion speaker - it does not have witch hat knobs.
I bought it new, way back when.
This older version came with a three spring, Accutronics reverb tank # 9EB2A1B
The three springs are actually made of two springs each, joined in the middle.

According to online schematics, the newer models use a Type 4 reverb tank.  I'm not sure but, I believe the newer RG80's use Accutronics # 4FB2A1B.
