Hello to all . for some time my beloved x2 sounds very bad. I would have to recover the schematics to try to solve the problem. has anyone already had problems with this head?
Randall Solid State Amplifiers / Amp/Cab Ohm Matching - Please Help
« Last post by metaldome on March 28, 2018, 07:42:19 PM »
1) So I bought a Randal RG100ES amplifier head and from what I can see it has two 8 ohm outputs on the back. In the manual it says "Less than 8 OHM load impedence is not recommended" but then in the specifications it says "120 watts RMS @ 4 ohms" and "80 watts RMS @ 8 ohms." Why is it listing watts @ 4 ohms if less than 8 ohms is not recommended?

2) I also bought a Randall USM-RV412S 270 watt speaker cabinet, it has a switch on the back which can be set to stereo (two 8 ohm inputs) or mono (one input is 4 ohms and the other is 16 ohms). I believe it would be alright to connect the 8 ohm amp output to the 16 ohm mono cab input, correct? If so how many watts will I be getting?

3) What are my other options? Is it safe to go from an 8 ohm amp output to the 4 ohm mono cab input? Is there any way to make the cab 8 ohms to match the amp? I believe if I switch to 8 ohm stereo each input will only power two of the four speakers? Could I run two speaker wires, one from each 8 ohm amp outputs to both of the stereo 8 ohm cab inputs? How would that affect wattage?

Thank you for any help!
Randall Tube Amplifiers / RT100 Pre Amp Valves
« Last post by scottravenhill on March 19, 2018, 06:59:54 AM »
Hi Guys,

This has probably been asked a million time so sorry for being such a noob!

I purchased my first all tube amplifier last year, the RT100H.

I've had a lot of fun with it so far and did the pre amp tube swap mentioned in other posts, (p2 & p5 including covered valve) or (p1 & p4 excluding covered valve)

Anyway, recently I'm getting a lot of loud microphonic noise in the clean channel, so I figure its time for a set of new valves rather than just one, as I bought the amp second hand and have no idea how old they all are. I am also not sure if I need to replace the input valve or just the 4 uncovered valves?

I'm really looking for reccomendations of that to replace them with. There are so many options available its all a little overhwleming to be honest! I have been looking on

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Randall Tube Amplifiers / RT50C with a load box
« Last post by wilkinsi on February 13, 2018, 09:12:39 AM »
A) If I want to use the RT50C with a load box:
1) Do I have to modify the amp, so that the built-in speaker is muted? Please describe procedure if this is the case. Can I still easily and safely revert to using the in-built speaker if needed?
2) Do both the 8ohm and 4ohm cab outputs have to be connected?

B) I want to switch amp channels using a Line 6 Helix, but the footswitch port is not directly compatible. Is there an adapter I can buy?

C) Assuming I need to get these modifications made by a specialist, is it cost effective, or am I better off buying a head and separate cab? The amp is sitting in a shop, but no-one is interested, so I'm thinking of taking it back and modifying it.

Thanks in advance.
Randall Solid State Amplifiers / Asking for help. Randall RRM 2-200
« Last post by VSAT88 on February 06, 2018, 08:03:43 PM »
Hi, new here so forgive me please if I break protocol. I have a Randall RRM 2-200 and I would kind of like to get it back up and running. It is trashed completely out but I like it anyway . I cannot find a schematic/drawing anywhere even on the pay sites. It is a very simple amplifier as far as I can see and I am making good progress but I really could use a schematic for things like the OPT. The outputs have been changed and I have no clue what the originals were and that makes it hard for me to match for new. Anyway, thanks in advance. Jim.

Does anyone have any information on this amp?  I recently bought it with a guitar.  I can't find much info on it and was wondering what it's worth.  I already have 4 amps in the house so a 5th just isn't going to cut it with the misses.   ;D
