« Last post by moshpit5150 on October 21, 2017, 03:31:24 PM »
Hi I am new here and I was hoping to get or find info here about the correct pin number used on the power tube board so I can check the plate voltage for my RD45H head when it finally gets to it pin # 3 for the Hot/Red lead wire and the Black ground lead wire to ground from my multimeter ? I am pumped about my new amp getting home but I always like to check the bias and all tubes..any info greatly appreciated !

New guy will it be a waste of time asking about my RD45H Diavlo heads bias ? I just want to find out if the plate voltage can be checked at PIN#3 hot and ground lead wire to ground ? I will be receiving my RD45H head in about 10 days and as always I want to re-tube and check bias but I have never done the bias on a/any Randall amplifier..from what little I have found out supposedly these heads have 2 what looks like possibly bias trimpot adjustments right by the 2 power tubes,I am thinking if this is true maybe each power tube has its own bias trimpot ?  I have a handhelp bias plate voltage/millli amp checker but it needs to be re-calibrated so I have to check the plate voltage at whichever pin is correct. I have 3 new pairs of power tubes and 10 different preamp tubes ready to roll when my amp gets home to me...Sorry OP,I didn't mean to hijack your thread with my BS..I was hoping I would find an active Randall amp forum with lots of cool people and info they don't mind sharing, but might be wrong..any info on Randall RD45H Diavlo heads would be greatly appreciated! And again SORRY TO THE ORIGINAL OP !!

The amp was purchased brand new from Thomann in Germany.  No effects, i use a Dean Chicago V with DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups. I will try to record a video from my mobile phone today.

Randall Tube Amplifiers / Randall RD1 Head crappy sound!
« Last post by El_Zippo on October 17, 2017, 04:31:34 PM »
Hello everyone! Recently bought a Randall RD 1 head for bedroom use. The reason i secelcted this particular head, was the advertising videos and the reviews in which the forthcoming sound was solid mordernised metal distortion and of course the fair price, two elements that made RD1 a real deal.

Howerver when i pluged in (not in the RD110-D box, i instead already have an Engl 110 Gigmaster which is practically the same) the outcome was a total disappontiment since what i heard was an overdriven moody heavy/rock sound, definently not heavy metal and certainly not the one i heard in youtube. Not thick enought, not compressed enought, not tight, not fat. I had to turn the settings to a cleaner sound and plug in my old MXR Fullbore Metal pedal in order to get some crunchy tones. And still the sound was still too moody for my taste.

I'd dare to say that i feel a little bit disappointed by Randall, since i had higher expectations, however i keep on watching videos on youtube where the sound of the RD1 is totally different. I'd like to know if for any reason the unit i bought might have a problem with the tubes.

Thanks anyone in advance and i know that the queston is somehow stupid, but i really hoped that this amp would be something good.
