Randall Tube Amplifiers / Re: RD45 Concerns
« on: April 20, 2015, 06:51:35 AM »
Ok I can deal with that. I have had more time to play around with it and it really does cut through well in a band mix.

How did you dealt with that?
How did you get your RD45 to cut through?

I have huge problem with lack of presence and treble generally. I event think of modifyingto get proper EQ.
When I was listenig to YT clips at all sounded well but in live situation with full band it just kills me.

I must ask you, do you find RD45 to dark? I know that cab will change EQ generally a lot, but still I found it really too dark with Marshall 412 cab loaded with reissued Celestion G12H-75s.
I had to put treble all the way up, bass and mid set to 9 o clock and presence pushed a bit.
EMG active guitar.

Ok.. another question for Randall technicians.

RD5 head has this T.S.S switch. It shifts mid response I hear and understand that. So I can do all these setups by RD45s bass mid tre EQ knobs probably.

But I am asking, because I really like how it is done with T.S.S switch, what exactly they/you did with these switch positions... if it is not extremely tom secret? :P
If possible, write by simple EQ positions ..... Bass 10'o clock, mid 12, tre 3 ... etc...

For now it is 4x12" vintage 30 cab.
but I plan to reduce size of cab to 2x12 with vintage 30. I want to make compact metal rig (most compact as possible) that I can transport by small car. But I do not want to risk minimum tone richness and hi gain punch...

I see that Diavlo (45 or 100) both gets highest rating all over the globe so is could really be best (metal) buy for buck at the moment.

Guys (girls?), please help.

I want to buy a lower power amplifier and I watch for some time RD45 Randall. I see most of you tested it at least heard it once in live situation.
I have no doubt that the gain and tone color is sufficient and set for lo-tuned metal chops, but does the amplifier have enough headroom to be able to make a rich tone on stage. What are your impressions? Is it loud enough for live gigs, smaller and mid size stage (up to 300 visitors venues with proper front of house PA)

I can not test it before buy so I must ask you. Please, can you advice me?

I can consider RD100 too but I would really like to get smaller amp ... I already have Randalll V2 and Peavey 6505+ but its full power is not reachable. Specially 6505+ which wont give good sound until I crank it up and in most situations it is not possible on stage - too loud.

You are probably right ... You can feel it  while play.

I never changed type of tubes in my V2... must try.

If you have some cool photos - links with Dimebag shreding Randall please post here.

It is definitively most famous image orbiting our metal planet! Mr. Darrell in front of Randall wall of power! And we, Randall users today should never forget it ... Randall was life part to one of the best metal bands ever! The Best!

Missed RM100 demo. Ill try to dig.
I also see Ola <-> Randall combination very good. I would like to stay on Randall with my next amp, I just need foreplay :)

If you ask me about Randall 15W SS amps I would redesigned it a bit to get warmer tone like Peavey do. It is not amp you will go to tour with and you must watch for freq. response, its bedroom amp and it should sound sweet at first.

Make it sound sweet so kids would like it more.
